We’re Here!
Hello Friends and Family,
After months of anticipation and preparation, we’ve finally arrived — we’re in New York City!
Three weeks ago, we landed at LaGuardia and hit the ground running. With just 30 days in our Airbnb, we knew we had a short window to get our feet under us. While Tyler began connecting with the staff at Trinity Grace Church and City to City NYC, we also jumped right into the job search. We’re thrilled to share that Erin received several managerial offers in Manhattan, and after much prayer and discernment, she accepted a position as General Manager at Maman in SoHo!
With her job secured and your generous support for Tyler’s church planting residency, we were finally able to start applying for apartments. We spent countless 10-hour days traveling all over Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan, seeing one tiny, oddly-shaped apartment after another in buildings that were cold and worn. After a while, we began to wonder — would we ever find a place that felt like home?
Then, on one particularly long day, Tyler squeezed in a final showing. He quickly FaceTimed Erin and said, “I think this is the one.” It was a two-bedroom apartment in the heart of Park Slope, a one-floor walk-up on 5th Avenue — just across the street from M.S. 51, the middle school where our church, Trinity Grace Church, meets on Sundays. It’s catty-corner to a beautiful park, and above a row of cozy cafes and shops. If we were going to spend the next few years living, investing, and training in this neighborhood, this spot felt just right.
We applied the next day — and waited.
On Tyler’s birthday, we got the best gift: we got the apartment!
On June 1st, we opened the doors to our new home, took a moment to thank God, and began unpacking. The very next morning, Erin started her training at Maman.
There’s still so much to do and to pray for — schools, insurance, furniture (hello, IKEA, Target, and Marketplace!) — but we are beyond grateful to now have a place to call home and a meaningful job to grow in. As we get settled and begin planting roots in our new neighborhood, we’re continuing to build a network of partners who want to invest in this mission with us.
Thank you for praying, supporting, and cheering us on as we begin this next chapter. We truly couldn’t do this without you.
With love and gratitude,
Erin + Tyler Saldaña
