A New Season Begins

(September 11, 2025) The first evening Incubator Collective with City to City NYC for Tyler along with other pastors from throughout the city.

Hello Friends and Family,

Summer has flown by, and as September unfolds, we’re beginning to feel the shift toward fall—a season marked by change and fresh starts. This year, that feels especially true for our family: Rowan began Kindergarten, Kinsey started 3K, and I (Tyler) stepped into a new chapter as I began the Incubator Collective program with City to City NYC.

With both girls entering school for the first time, this transition feels significant—an end to one cherished chapter and the beginning of another.

While bittersweet certainly describes it, perhaps a fuller picture is captured in the mixture of emotions we’re feeling: sadness and excitement, grief and joy, loss and gain, endings and beginnings. I often find myself scrolling through old photos, missing the sweet sounds of toddler voices, their curls bouncing as they danced together, those warm little cuddles. And yet, I’m filled with deep joy and anticipation in this new season—celebrating their stories of new friendships, what they’re learning at school, and their triumphs on the monkey bars and jungle gyms.

Ministry, too, holds this same tension. Each step of faith in following the Spirit’s leading brings both excitement for what’s ahead and a sense of leaving something behind. As I serve as a Church Planting Resident with Trinity Grace Church and grow more rooted in our church and neighborhood, we’re also aware that our time on 5th Avenue is likely limited. We’re actively discerning a potential neighborhood for planting in the near future.

In this new rhythm—with the girls in school—we’ve had more space to listen, pray, and dream together. As we explore a few different neighborhoods, we’re asking God to show us where His kingdom is already at work, and how we might join in that work. Please pray with us for clarity from the Spirit, open doors to serve, and a neighborhood that aligns with our family’s passions and gifts.

I’m also deeply grateful for the new friendships forming in our Trinity Grace Church community, in our neighborhood, and among the seasoned ministry leaders in the city. My City to City NYC cohort includes over 10 pastors serving across 4 of the 5 boroughs. I feel humbled—and energized—to walk alongside such faithful leaders as we seek gospel renewal across this incredible city. On the eve of my first cohort gathering, my wife reminded me that for nearly half my life, I’ve dreamed of training with City to City NYC. Ever since I first sensed a call to pastoral ministry and church planting, their vision for gospel renewal in global cities captured my imagination. What a thrill it is to actually be here!

As we continue to settle into life and ministry here, we’ve been learning just how high the cost of living in New York can be. We’re so thankful for the $2,300/month in support we’re currently receiving—your generosity has made it possible for us to be here. That said, we’re realizing we need to raise an additional $1,000 to $1,500/month to fully meet our living expenses. We’re trusting God for continued provision, whether through new monthly or annual support, or through additional work opportunities that align with our mission. Please pray with us for God’s wisdom, provision, and open doors in this area.

Thank you for praying, supporting, and cheering us on as we step into this next chapter. We truly couldn’t do this without you.

With love and gratitude,

Erin + Tyler Saldaña
